Group Training Classes

FOR HOUSE DOGS AND HUNTING DOGS!

We offer group training classes for basic obedience and control training for house dogs of any age. Along with group retriever training for waterfowl and upland hunting dogs.

Where - When & How

Obedience training classes happen in Winslow & Carmel ME a minimum of once a week. Retriever training classes take place in Carmel, Benton, and Oakland ME 2-3 times a month. Feeling motivated to try a class? Call Ben to get scheduled on the class list. All classes are $50.00 a dog.

Obedience Class

This class focuses on basic commands like sit, stay, come, and place. Along with introduction to the "heel" command and leash manners. We educate the owner how to teach their dog each command resulting in a very interactive class that gives you tools to succeed with upon arriving home.

We also educate, teach, and practice routines to address behavioral problems with all owners. Along with teaching and practicing environmental stimulation regulation exercises with owners to do with their dog at home. These teach dogs to "relax" in the home, freeing the household of pet anxiety.

Retriever Class

These classes are all geared towards the issues the group of dogs signed up is having as a whole. So, if 4 out of the 5 dogs have a steadiness issue. That class will be designed around steadiness practice.

Most aspects of retrieving are covered in these classes. This includes steadiness work, steady to / under shot work. Water motivation, line discipline, blind retrieves. Single, double, and triple retrieves. Handling, casting, and backing. Hand delivery. Along with decoy / silouette work.

Things we don't address in group classes BUT DO in private sessions. Gun shyness, feather work, and retrieves in current. Along with retrieves out of boats.

This class is open to ANY BREED. The class is designed to help ALL types of retrieving dogs. Including Spaniels and Pointing breeds NOT just retriever breeds!
